NAMPA, Idaho (AP) -- A New Plymouth man whose pickup truck struck a man as he fled an Interstate 84 traffic stop says he helped the Idaho State Police capture the suspect.

Nicky Adams said that he slowed at the scene of the traffic stop Tuesday afternoon when the suspect came up to the side of his truck and then disappeared. The trooper told him Roberto Solario threw himself in front of the truck.

Adams says he was traveling slowly enough that the heavy diesel truck did not drive over Solario, but pushed him along the asphalt, causing wounds to his stomach and ripping off his clothes.

Solario got up and started running away again, but he helped the trooper hold Solario until paramedics arrived.
