Remembering Sara Winfrey
A Meridian family is committed to a cause, one that comes out of heartbreak. We first introduced you to Sara Winfrey and her family just over a year ago as she battled cancer. Now even in her passing, those around her are working to complete her mission.
At just 36-years-old, doctors diagnoised Sara with an aggressive form of leukemia. It took her life in just months.
"What is not to miss?" says husband Brian. He left his job to take on a new full time one as single dad. He says honest conversations and finding ways to remember sara have gotten him and their two young children through.
"On her birthday the kids sent her balloons with some pictures. Same with Valentine's Day," said Brian.
Even as the disease ravaged her body, Sara tried to bring awareness for the need for bone marrow donation. A year later, Team Sara Winfrey champions that fight. Thursday, Oct. 4, Sara's team will Light The Night to honor her memory and help raise money to find a cure for leukemia.
