One dead after semi overturns on I-84 near La Grande
Oregon State Police is continuing the investigation into the cause of a single vehicle fatal traffic crash Friday morning that took the life of an Illinois man.
According to Sergeant Kyle Hove with OSP, on September 28 just before 5 a.m., a commercial motor vehicle truck and trailer driven by Robert Leroy Deneau, 53 of Lincoln Park, Illinois, was westbound on Interstate 84, near milepost 286, when it veered off the highway, into the median and overturned.
Deneau was trapped in the vehicle and extricated by North Powder Fire & Rescue firefighters. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The highway was closed for over an hour.
