MURPHY, Idaho (AP) -- A woman charged with burning her 2-year-old daughter's body in a barrel has pleaded not guilty to destroying evidence.

Veronica Herrera was arraigned Friday at the Owyhee County courthouse. Her attorney entered the plea on her behalf.

Police have said Herrera told investigators that she burned her daughter's body after the child died of a head injury because she was afraid of losing custody of her other children.

Herrera eventually told her parents what happened and they notified police.

Prosecutors have said additional charges could be filed.
