Caldwell teen charged with stabbing mother held on $1 million bail
CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) -- A 17-year-old Caldwell boy charged with stabbing his mother told police he has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, had smoked synthetic marijuana and heard voices telling him he needed to kill his mother because it would make the world a better place.
The boy was arraigned Tuesday on an attempted murder charge and ordered jailed on $1 million bail.
Officers responded to a report of a disturbance at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and heard a woman screaming. They broke down the door and found 42-year-old Mildred Ramirez on the floor of her house, bleeding.
Court records say she was stabbed seven times in the left arm, three times in the chest and once in the head. She was being treated at a Boise hospital. Her condition was not immediately available.
