72-year-old Boise man arrested for allegedly trying to set a fire near apartment building
Boise Police were called just before 7 a.m. Sunday morning, Sept. 23, to West Jefferson Street in Boise by a witness who said they saw a man take a bottle of lighter fluid, use a rag to set it on fire and throw it between the apartment building and an adjacent storage unit.
The witness told officers they ran outside to put out the small fire and then called 911. The witness was able to provide officers with a description of the suspect who was no longer on scene.
Police searched the area but were unable to locate the man, but a short time later, the witness called officers again reporting the suspect was back. Officers arrived quickly and found the man, later identified as Ronald W. Swier, 72 of Boise, who lives in the neighborhood.
After investigating and questioning Switer, he was arrested on charges of Arson in the 3rd Degree.
