N. Idaho officials to look into county raises
SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) -- Bonner County commissioners in northern Idaho have voted to have the county's job evaluation committee look into a half-dozen raises given to sheriff's personnel and deputy clerks.
The Bonner County Daily Bee reports that commissioners approved the move Tuesday on a split vote.
Commissioners have said they thought they could only acknowledge the raises proposed by Sheriff Daryl Wheeler and Clerk Marie Scott. Later they found out they are authorized to approve employee wages.
Commissioner Cornel Rasor says they have a responsibility to at least revisit the raises.
Wheeler provided the board with justifications and comparisons for the pay raises. Scott didn't provide additional information to support her deputies' pay.
