Very little growth for the Karney Fire overnight, Sunday is target containment date
The Karney Fire grew very little overnight, said Dave Olson with the Boise National Forest. Firefighters reported they kept the blaze at 440 acres Thursday night. Crews are continuing to mop up hotspots within the fireline and near structures.
"Interior smoke will persist as the fire continues to burn logs and other pockets of unburned vegetation inside the fire perimeter," said Olson. "The fire is 40 percent contained. Full containment is estimated for September 23 at the end of the day."
More than 300 people are currently working to fight the fire, but the plan is to downsize that number within the next 24 hours.
