Group seeks to build course for U. of Oregon golf team
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- An alumni group hopes to build a golf course exclusively for the use of the University of Oregon golf teams and select others.
The Register-Guard reports the group led by former UO golf standout Mick Humphreys has already won the Lane County planning director's approval for a proposed golf course on 796 acres two miles west of Creswell.
Establishing the course would cost an estimated $25 million, including construction costs and the cost of creating an endowment to defray the cost of operations.
The money would be provided entirely by donors.
Oregon State University opened its Trysting Tree Golf Course almost 25 years ago and three other Pac-12 schools also have their own golf courses.
