The American Red Cross says that evacuees of the Karney Fire at the Idaho City High School stayed open a night longer than expected. The Karney Fire has affected residents in the Robie Creek and Wilderness Ranch areas and those residents were allowed to stay again on Wednesday night.

According to Barbara Fawcett with the Red Cross, this has been the busiest fire season they have seen in many years. This is the fourth shelter opened to care for the victims of the many Idaho wildfires of 2012. One home has burned so far in the Karney Fire, with many more still threatened.
