Lemhi Humane Society receives donation for pets affected by fires
The Humane Society of the United States is donating $500 worth of animal food to the Lemhi Humane Society, an organization caring for pets from nearby communities that have had to evacuate due to recent wildfires.
“The Humane Society of the United States is thankful we were able to help in this time of need,” said Lisa Kauffman, Idaho state director for The HSUS. “We hope this donation goes a long way in helping Lemhi Humane Society care for the animals as the community deals with this emergency. We urge all residents who are ordered to evacuate to please take their pets along.”
The Lemhi Humane Society contacted The HSUS soon after it began taking in animals from nearby residents who had to evacuate due to approaching wildfires, filling the shelter above its normal capacity. The $500 donation will bring temporary but needed relief to the shelter as it waits to receive an additional emergency animal food donation from Purina, which The HSUS facilitated.
