Man arrested after he allegedly hit car of pregnant woman while drunk
Boise Police were called by witnesses to a crash at the intersection of N. Cloverdale Rd and W. Fairview Ave last night just after 11:30 p.m. When they arrives, officers found two vehicles involved in the crash; one, a silver Mitsubishi sedan was still in the intersection; the other, a green ’97 Chrysler van was parked just out of the intersection on Cloverdale.
The male driver of the sedan and a female passenger were both still on scene. Officers were told the female passenger was nine months pregnant. Both occupants of the sedan were taken by paramedics to a nearby hospital for treatment of what appeared at the time to be non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses told officers the driver of the van was headed north on Cloverdale, had run the red light colliding with the sedan that was headed westbound on Fairview. Several witnesses said they saw the van driver park the van and run off.
Witnesses were able to give officers a description of the man, who was later found outside a convenience store at W. Ustick and N. Five Mile Roads. Officers smelled alcohol on the man and administered field sobriety tests. He blew a .129/.129.
Joey A. Willard, 20 of Boise, was arrested on charges of DUI (under the age of 21) and Felony Leaving the scene of an Injury Crash.
