IDOC inmates to begin harvesting potatoes in prison garden this week
This week, inmates at South Idaho Correctional Institution will be harvesting potatoes at a six-acre prison garden that grows fresh produce for hungry Idaho families.
According to Jeffrey Ray with IDOC, this is the third year that SICI inmates have operated a Foodbank garden.
So far this summer, the garden has already produced more than two tons of greenbeans, and it will likely produce more than 150,000 pounds of potatoes.
You can find out more about the project tonight at 5, 6 and 10 on Today's 6 On Your Side and at 9 on Fox 9 On Your Side.
