Melissa Jenkins, Robert Manwill's mom, is appealing sentence
BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A Boise woman who pleaded guilty for her role in the torture killing of her 8-year-old son by her then boyfriend has filed an appeal seeking to have her 25-year prison sentence reduced.
The Idaho Statesman reports that Melissa Jenkins filed the appeal for post-conviction relief in late August in 4th District Court. Jenkins contends her attorneys didn't do a good job representing her.
Jenkins in January 2011 pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting second-degree murder involving the death of Robert Manwill as part of a plea agreement.
In September 2011, Daniel Ehrlick was sentenced to life in prison on a first-degree murder conviction for killing Jenkins' son, then trying to cover up the murder by stuffing rocks in the boy's pockets and dumping the body in a canal.
