Hundreds of volunteers came to tidy up, near the river for the annual Boise River Sweeps 2012!

It started bright and early Saturday morning. Volunteers of all ages gathered to pick up empty cans, bottles and just trash near the river.

However, just because these people are giving back, that doesn't mean they didn’t have a little fun with it.

Some volunteers found more than just water bottles lying near the Boise River, and compared some of the gross things they found for laughs.

“Found some used sanitary products,” said one volunteer. “Found a bag full of poop and some bloody napkins,” said another volunteer.

Volunteers were hard at work, and some even went into the river to pick up some floating trash.

“My passion is wetlands, rivers, ponds,” said Kellie Rey, volunteer, “think it’s important to keep these areas clean.”

It took four hours of hard work to clean up the river from Boise to Caldwell, but volunteers said a cleaned up river was well worth the effort.

This year more than 500 volunteers showed up to help make Idaho a better place to live.
