Train hits car near Rathdrum, driver dies
RATHDRUM, Idaho (AP) -- Officials in Kootenai County say a woman in her 20s was killed when her car was struck by a freight train at a crossing near Rathdrum in northern Idaho.
Lt. Stuart Miller says the collision happened at about 7:40 a.m. Thursday.
KHQ-TV reports the Union Pacific conductor told authorities the vehicle stopped at the stop sign, but then continued driving right as the train reached the crossing. The intersection does not have crossing arms, just a stop sign.
The woman's name has not been released.
