500 volunteers will be out to clean up the Boise River Saturday
Saturday, Sept. 15, more than 500 volunteers will be out on the Boise River from Boise to Caldwell. The event will celebrate the 11th anniversary of the annual Boise RiverSweep.
"The Boise River is our community's most precious natural asset, bringing life to our high-desert environment through the greenery, wildlife habitats and recreational opportunities it provides," Mayor David Bieter said. "The annual citizen clean-up effort is crucial to maintaining the health and vitality of this valuable resource."
Volunteers have found many different items, including aluminum cans, furniture and even shipping carts. This year’s planning committee includes the Partners for Clean Water, the City of Boise, the City of Caldwell, Boise WaterShed Environmental Education Center, Boise State University, Idaho Rivers United and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.
