Bonneville County is warning of false phone calls and texts that look to come from their Jury Commissioner's Office. Concerned residents have been calling their office saying the calls and texts tell them there has been an arrest warrant issued because they did not show up for Jury Duty.

"If you get a telephone call or a text message that tells you that you have missed jury duty, and that there is a warrant for your arrest, it is not real," said Sgt. Jeff Edwards with the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office. "The message tells you a number to call 704-319-7254."

According to Sgt. Edwards, the calls and texts are either a prank or a way to defraud people.

Bonneville County says they will not call if you miss a jury duty appearance. They will either mail a letter to your home, or have a Deputy with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office come to your home and serve a summons for fail to appear.
