Fish and Game traps, relocates bear spotted north of Eagle
The bear who scared a number of Avimor subdivision residents north of Eagle Sunday is now out of woods.
Or rather, back into the woods.
Fish and Game officials tranquilized and trapped the 175-pound bear Sunday night after it was spotted trying to get into a home.
Originally, officials thought it was bear cub – but, upon further examination, they found the bear was larger than first thought.
On Monday, it was released in the back country of the upper Payette River drainage, according to Idaho Fish and Game Department spokesman Mike Keckler.
About forty families live in the Avimor subdivision. They told authorities they had seen the bear in the area several times over the past few weeks.
