Ex-South Western Idaho school worker sentenced on drug charge
A former teaching assistant at a Wilder alternative school was sentenced to a minimum of three years in prison for giving prescription pain medications to students.
Prosecutors told the Idaho Press-Tribune Roberta Kondo of Nampa could be eligible for probation in less than a year is she successfully completes a treatment program designed for prisoners with substance abuse issues. She was sentenced Thursday to a maximum of five years in prison.
Kondo pleaded guilty earlier this month to delivering a controlled substance.
She had been an educational assistant at the Canyon-Owyhee School Service Agency, or COSSA, since October. The alternative school for special education serves "at risk" students, along with gifted and talented kids. It is affiliated with Homedale, Marsing, Notus, Parma, and Wilder school districts.
