Man shot by deputies is identified
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) -- The Spokane County medical examiner's office has identified the man shot and killed by sheriff's deputies Wednesday as 47-year-old Edward Stanley Gover.
The medical examiner's office said Friday that Gover was killed by a gunshot wound to the trunk and a shotgun wound to the pelvis.
Gover had been in a romantic relationship with a Spokane Valley woman, who called police Wednesday to report that Gover had stabbed her, causing superficial wounds. Deputies responded to interview the woman, spotted Gover, and gave chase. Gover was shot by two deputies after he climbed over the woman's backyard fence.
Authorities have not disclosed whether Gover had a weapon.
