Expect more traffic delays this Labor Day weekend
With campers, football fans and tourists on the road, drivers should expect some heavy traffic this Labor Day weekend.
For many families, this holiday weekend is considered the final summer outing.
People will be spending more in order to enjoy the great outdoors, since the national average gas price is up 20 cents from a month ago.
Travel experts still expect more people to head out of town. AAA Idaho workers said they expect about 3.2% increase in the Gem State compared to a year ago.
Idaho State Police said many highways, especially Hwy 55, will be backed up Monday night, as a flood of people will be heading back from their vacation.
Police said drivers on a road trip should:
-Make sure their vehicle is in top condition
-Make sure to have a spare tire and all the tools to replace a tire
-Pack extra water and snacks just in case, because if you get stranded in the middle of nowhere, it might take a while to get some help
Idaho State Police also remind people to be patient and drive defensively this weekend.
