Idaho lowers flags Friday to honor Neil Armstrong

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Flags on all state buildings in Idaho are now flying at half-staff to honor American astronaut Neil Armstrong.

Armstrong -- the first man to step foot on the moon -- died Saturday at age 82. A private memorial service honoring Armstrong was held Friday in Cincinnati.

Idaho officials decided to honor the him Friday as well and in line with a presidential proclamation ordering all flags at U.S. Government and military buildings be lowered to half-staff.

A national memorial service has been scheduled for Sept. 12 in Washington, although no other details have been released on the service or burial plans for Armstrong.
