Arrest warrant issued for man in Twin Falls motel homicide

The Cassia County Sheriff’s Office’s has announced that their investigation into the suspicious incident at the Alpine Garden Motel has now become a Homicide Investigation.

"On May 18, a body of an adult male was located in the crawl space under the office of the motel.. Positive identification was made and the body was determined to be that of Russ Taft, 55," said Cassia County Sheriff Randy Kidd. It was determined during his autopsy that Taft died from blunt force trauma to the head and a stab wound to the heart."

The Cassia County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking for James Duane Ambrose, 53, for questioning concerning the death of Taft. Ambrose was last seen in Las Vegas, Nevada in early May.

Aug. 30, Cassia County issued a warrant for Ambrose for First Degree Murder and a Weapons Enhancement.
