More land purchased for new Seattle arena
SEATTLE (AP) -- The man hoping to bring an NBA team back to Seattle has bought another parcel of land in the area where he plans to build a new arena.
KING reports Chris Hansen's company closed Tuesday on the $8 million purchase of a half-acre property where the Showbox SODO music venue now sits.
Hansen plans a $490 million arena that would also be home to an NHL team. The plan calls for $200 million in public money. The King County Council has approved the idea. The Seattle City Council is still considering the proposal.
