Metal thieves caught on camera
Metal thieves in Boise are stealing all the metal they can get thier hands on from local car dealers. Several businesses along Fairview fell victim to metal thieves. Apparently, stealing copper and alluminum car parts is lucrative.
Instant Equity Auto has recycle bins in a fenced area just outside thier shop. What the thieves failed to realize is there are surveillance cameras there also. Caught in the act and on camera, the thieves stole everything from wheel rims to catalytic converters.
Instant Equity Auto owner, Ed Christensen said he wants the crimes to stop. "We want them (the thieves) caught," said Christensen. "They've hit several areas now. They've hit Image Auto, Bruneel Tire, they've hit Western Auto Sales. They're all over the map, stealing, an it's nothing more than a cowardly act."
Christensen estimates he's lost about $9,000 worth of metal. He's offering a $500 reward for anyone who can identify the thieves and help bring them to justice.
