Pine-Featherville residents allowed to check on homes today
Pine and Featherville residents will be given limited access to their properties today.
According to the Elmore County Sheriff, Pine residents will be allowed in to check their properties and retrieve personal items from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Featherville residents can check their properties from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. or from noon to 1:30 p.m.
"Featherville residents wishing to check their homes are to meet at the Elk Flats Campground on Pine-Featherville Rd by 10:00 OR 12:00 to be escorted to Featherville," said the Elmore County Sheriff. "They will be allowed to proceed to their property and spend up to 1 and a half hours to check homes and gather any personal items they may have not been able to during the initial evacuation."
The sheriff said that even though all Featherville homes have been saved, the smoke is still to dangerous to let residents return to their homes. Checkpoints are still in place and all residents must show proof of ID and residence.
