Breaking: Standoff suspect found dead inside Nampa apartment
After a nearly seven-hour standoff inside a Nampa apartment building Saturday, police enter the suspect's apartment, and find the man dead in his bedroom.
Shortly after 2 p.m. Nampa police responded to a shots fired call insdide the Brookside Apartments at Greenhurst Rd. and 12th Ave. Rd.
Police say a male suspect opened fire through the wall of an adjacent apartment. No one inside the neighboring apartment was hurt.
Officers then quickly evacuated residents from the building.
Police say the suspect barricaded himself inside his apartment for several hours.
When the Canyon County Swat Team arrived on scene to set up a perimeter, the suspect allegedly fired at officers. The officers then fired back.
Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night, the swat team used an explosive device to enter the suspect's apartment and found his dead body.
Most of the residents at the apartment complex who were evacuated returned to their respective apartment Saturday night. But, police say neighboring apartments to where the incident took place will remain vacant until at least Sunday night.
The Critical Incident Task Force now takes over the investigation.
