Ore. man charged in Craigslist auto-flip scheme
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- A Eugene man has been arraigned on charges tied to an alleged online auto-flipping scheme.
Michael Marks is accused of buying used vehicles with bad checks and then quickly reselling them on Craigslist.
One victim told The Register-Guard newspaper that Marks came to his home earlier this month and wrote him a check for $4,400 in exchange for his 1995 Toyota Tacoma pickup.
The victim says Marks "seemed like a nice guy" and even produced an identification card that matched the name and address listed on the check.
The man recovered his pickup on Thursday.
Marks is being held in the Lane County Jail on charges of theft and unlawful use of a vehicle.
