MULTNOMAH FALLS, Ore. (AP) -- Search and rescue crews are looking for a man and his 6-year-old nephew who didn't show up after a day hike Thursday evening at Multnomah Falls.

KATU-TV reports the boy's great-grandmother called police to report them missing around 1 a.m.

Four Multnomah County search teams started hiking the trail early Friday. Two started at the falls and two started at the Larch Mountain trailhead.

By 9 a.m. the two teams had convened in the middle with no sign of the missing hikers. They were still searching trails that branch off the main trail.

Despite chilly overnight temperatures, rescuers say it wasn't dangerously cold for somebody without survival gear.

The trail is about six miles long and usually has lots of hikers on it. It's considered a relatively easy trail.
