Crews plan to continue fighting the Trinity Ridge Fire with fire
The Trinity Ridge Fire has now grown to more than 100,000 acres, and crews told us it’s still around 5% contained.
Fighting fire with fire, crews started their back burn operation on Wednesday. They said the first day of the operation was a successful one. Now they plan to do it again, all while putting out some hot spots and smoke from Wednesday’s burn.
The first burnout started right behind many homes and businesses in Featherville. The back burn operation had some residents relieved their homes will soon be protected after the burn, while others were on edge.
Crews told us on Thursday, the next back burn operation will elongate the fire lines to protect the homes.
The Trinity Ridge Fire has caused residents in Featherville and Paradise to evacuate. Now the town of Pine could be next, depending on how the weather conditions push the fire.
