A 35-year old Washington man died Wednesday morning when he crashed his motorcycle while traveling along a remote section of Highway 26 south of Unity in Baker County in Oregon.

Wednesday morning around 9:30 a.m. a 2011 BMW motorcycle operated by the victim was eastbound on Highway 26 near milepost 215 traveling with a group of other motorcycles. The operator lost control negotiating a sweeping curve and traveled off the roadway onto the gravel shoulder where it began to tumble, ejecting the operator.

The motorcycle and operator came to rest off the highway. He was wearing a protective helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene by Unity Fire Department EMTs.

Speed is a possible contributing factor in this fatal crash.
