The Western Athletic Conference has reportedly decided to drop football after the 2012 season.

"The Western Athletic Conference will not play football past the 2012 season, and may fold altogether if unable to find additional non-football members, according to commissioner Jeff Hurd," said the Denver Post.

The seven remaining football teams, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Texas State, Utah State and the University of Texas at San Antonio, will play for the 2012 season.

Friday, Idaho voted to become independent.
