Middleton man accidentally shoots wife
Friday night around 8:15 p.m. a call came in to Canyon County dispatch with the report of an accidental shooting on South Marjorie Avenue in Middleton.
Deputies arrived with minutes to find a male subject performing first aid on a female that appeared to have been shot in the head. Medical personnel arrived a short time later and transported the female to a hospital in Boise.
According to the Canyon County Sheriff, the 56 year old home owner was showing a 380 caliber handgun to his nephew. Prior to handing the firearm to him, the homeowner unloaded it. When the firearm was returned to him, the homeowner reloaded the firearm and was trying to let the hammer down when the firearm discharged striking his 51-year-old wife, (who was a few feet away from him) in the head. Other family members immediately called 911 for help.
The condition of the female victim is unknown.
