Search underway for man missing on the Snake River
Just after 9 a.m. on Thursday, Idaho Falls/Bonneville County Dispatch got a call that a male adult had jumped into the Snake River from the Pancheri Bridge.
Gerald Wilkinson, 76 of Idaho Falls, was last seen wearing blue jeans, a light blue shirt and tennis shoes.
Officers responded to the area. They were able to see the male in the river South and West of the island downstream. Five minutes after they were called, officers lost site of Wilkinson.
"This was called in by his wife who had been in the vehicle with him," according to the Bonneville County Sheriff. "Gerald was driving the car, he stopped in the lane of traffic on the bridge. He got out of the car and stepped over the rail into the river."
Bonneville County Sheriff’s Offices Dive Team with assistance from Bonneville County Search and Rescue, Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police, and Idaho Falls Fire Department are continuing to search for Mr. Wilkinson.
