Boise State coach mixes fun with work in fall camp
BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Fall camp isn't just about football and fundamentals for Boise State.
Mixed in among the tackling drills and scrimmages are activities away from the practice field aimed at building team unity.
For example, The Idaho Statesman reports head coach Chris Petersen and his staff took the team on a go-kart outing last week. There are also free-throw shooting competition and macaroni and cheese bake-offs.
Petersen calls the annual event the Bronco Olympics.
For the players, it's just plain fun and a great way to take their mind off the routines of fall drills.
Teams of 11 players compete in nine events throughout camp with nothing more than pride on the line. Petersen says the goal is helping teammates get to know and develop trust in each other.
