Ky. firefighters to assist with Idaho wildfire
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky firefighters are heading to Idaho to help fight western wildfires.
A statement from the Kentucky Division of Forestry says a crew of 20 firefighters left Monday from the Southern Interagency Fire Cache in London. When they arrive in Idaho, they will be assigned to the Trinity Ridge Fire. The agency had previously sent four firefighters to assist with blazes in Arkansas, California, Oklahoma and Oregon.
Division of Forestry Director Leah MacSwords said wildfire conditions in Kentucky have improved, allowing the state to send more resources out West.
