Dist. 29 Democrats settle on House candidate
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) -- A former Bannock County Commissioner has agreed to represent the Democratic Party and compete for an open seat in the Idaho House.
The Idaho State Journal reports that Carolyn Meline will run for House District 29 in southeast Idaho. She replaces 23-year-old Nate Murphy, who won the Democratic primary in May but dropped out of the race earlier this month.
District 29 Legislative Chairman John Perryman says Meline is a highly qualified candidate and a great advocate for the community.
Meline served as a county commissioner for 21 years and says she is looking forward to the campaign and challenges of the job -- if elected.
She squares off against Republican Dave Bowen in the general election in November.
