IDOC to auction land near Cottonwood
The State of Idaho is preparing to auction 7.24 acres of land that once was the site of housing for Idaho Department of Correction staff and their families.
The parcel is located north of Cottonwood just outside the city limits.
The State is selling the land in “as is” condition because the 18 condemned houses on it are uninsurable and repairs would be expensive. The houses were built in 1955 for U.S. Air Force staff working at a radar station which later became the site of North Idaho Correctional Institution.
The auction will be held on August 24 at 10 a.m. at the Cottonwood Community Hall Lodge, 506 King Street, in Cottonwood. The minimum bid price is $104,000. To be eligible to bid, interested parties must submit a 30-percent deposit ($31,200) in the form of cash, certified check or money order.
