Driver of SUV in crash that took 2 lives charged with vehicular manslaughter
20-year-old Cody Olson of Boise was arrested for two counts of Felony Vehicular Manslaughter Monday night. He was also charged with one count of Felony Injury to a Child.
Olson was the driver of the SUV that was in a crash March 3 that took the lives of two teenagers.
Cody Olson was driving on when he hit a concrete wall off Curtis Road in Boise. Scott Hyde, one of the occupants died as a result of the crash, and Kelsey Belcher, another occupant, died on March 10.
"A police report on a car crash that killed two teens suggests the driver was intoxicated and racing another car at the time," said the Associated Press.
The report said that Olson had a .07 blood alcohol limit, and witnesses said that Olson was driving between 80 and 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
Each count of Felony Vehicular Manslaughter has a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison and/or a $15,000 fine. Felony Injury to Child has a minimum of 1 year in prison and maximum of up to ten years in prison.
Olson's bond has been set at $250,000.
