8-vehicle crash on I-84 during evening commute
Monday night just before 6:30 p.m, Idaho State Police investigated an eight vehicle crash on the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 between Maple Grove and Five Mile.
A 2000 Toyota Camry, driven by Maria Arredondo-Medina, age 33 of Spokane Valley, Washington, was headed westbound, when she failed to maintain her lane and drifted into the lane of a 2010 Toyota Prius, driven by Daniella Emerson, age 38 of Eagle. Emerson slowed to avoid a collision with Arredondo-Medina. This resulted in Kenworth Semi, driven by Steven Bahmer, age 50 of Boise, to be struck by a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Robert Hale, age 51 of Meridian.
The force of the impact resulted in Hale's vehicle striking a 2003 Ford Ranger, driven by Bradley Glover, age 32 of Nampa. Glovers vehicle then struck a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass, driven by Michael Farrell, age 49 of Boise. Bahmer's vehicle then swerved to the right striking a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country mini-van, driven by Katie Moen, age 30 of Caldwell. Glover's vehicle was subsequently struck by a 1995 Peterbuilt, driven Jerry Farr, age 56 of Meridian.
Three of the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 were blocked from approximately two hours while officers investigated the crash. No one was transported for injuries sustained in the crash.
Arredondo-Medina was cited for careless driving.
