Evidence suggests that although our memory of a frightening event might be strong, it focuses on key elements -- such as whether there's a weapon -- and not on general details.

What was the suspect wearing? What color was his hair, his eyes? Did he have on glasses or a hat?

During Tuesday night’s newscast, viewers witnessed a crime live. The newsroom took calls from viewers to see exactly how many details they remembered.
