Boise River Water Park opens today
Tonight, the long-awaited Boise River Recreation Park will be formally launched with a grand opening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The park site is located near 3400 W. Pleasanton Ave. west of downtown Boise between Main Street and Veteran’s Memorial Park. Improvements to the site included widening of the river bank, which was also heavily armored to add stability and reconfigured to allow the public to sit and observe the river and the users of the water park.
Two temporary parking lots have been developed near the Boise River Recreation Park. Now, access the park from Pleasanton Avenue. Park behind Idaho River Sports at 3100 West Pleasanton, of 27th Street, or follow a temporary path to another lot between that and the pedestrian bridge over the Boise River.
The park was approved by Boise Planning and Zoning in October 2011 and construction began shortly after.
Mayor Bieter and guests will be out at the park holding a ribbon cutting. After the ceremony Idaho River Sports will host a reception with music and food.
