The Idaho Steelheads have had an open spot behind the bench since firing Hardy Sauter in early May. Tonight, the club filled that vacancy- making Brad Ralph the sixth coach in Steelheads franchise history.

Ralph commemorated his appointment by throwing out the first pitch at tonight's Boise Hawks game... just the wa you'd expect a hockey player would... by shooting it with a stick.

The 31-year-old Ralph is the youngest bench boss ever appointed to the position with the Steelheads. He spent the past two seasons coaching in the Southern Professional Hockey League, leading his squad to a 71-33-and-8 record in that time. He played professional hockey for 9 years in the AHL, ECHL, and in one game with the Phoenix Coyotes in the NHL. Now Ralph is dedicating his talents to taking Idaho back to the top of the standings.
