Construction begins on Eagle Road
Construction on Eagle Road began last night and it’s not expected to wrap up until November.
The Idaho Transportation Department says it’s necessary to improve safety.
They’re installing medians in several sections of the road and getting rid of many of those unprotected left turns.
They hope those two things reduce accidents.
In 2010, there were close to 300 accidents on Eagle Road from Franklin to State Street.
The $4.7 million project is happening in separate phases, affecting about two miles of the road during each phase.
That construction is happening overnight, but there will always be one lane open in each direction.
The speed limit will be reduced to 45 miles per hour in the construction zones, so pay extra attention to posted signs along the street.
