Report: San Jose State will announce Bleymaier as their new athletic director today
Jon Wilner with the San Jose Mercury News is reporting that San Jose State will introduce former Boise State Athletic Director Gene Bleymaier as their new Athletic Director today.
"Best I can tell, SJSU didn’t interview anyone else," Wilner wrote. "Bleymaier was the No. 1 candidate all along and, according to multiple sources, interviewed very well Monday."
Boise State let Bleymaier go last year after multiple NCAA violations were uncovered.
According to Wilner, Bleymaier was backed by SJSU alum, and former NFL coach, Dick Vermeil, who coached Bleymaier at UCLA.
