Fatal crash overnight on I-84 in Nampa
Monday night just after 8 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle rollover, fatality crash on westbound Interstate 84 near milepost 34 in Nampa, between the Karcher and Northside exits.
Shawn Sant, 47, of Ogden, Utah, was traveling west on Interstate 84 when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and rolled. Neither Sant nor his passenger, Wendy Hoff, age 49, also of Ogden, Utah, were wearing seatbelts. Hoff was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. Sant was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise with minor injuries.
The crash diverted traffc for a time occurred on I-84. Idaho State Police are now saying there may have been a small dog inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Officers believe alcohol, speed, and driver inattention are all contributing factors in the crash. The investigation is continuing.
