60 Idaho National Guard soldiers will be deployed to Afghanistan
This Saturday, about 60 Idaho Army National Guard Citizen Soldiers of Company A, 1-168 General Support Aviation Battalion will be deploying to Afghanistan, operating eight UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters assigned to the unit.
This mission of the unit for this deployment is to transport personnel and equipment throughout the Afghanistan operational area. The mobilization will last approximately one year.
After about 2 months of training at Ft. Hood, TX, these forces will replace deployed units in Afghanistan beginning about June, 2012.
