Boise man not injured after large tree falls on two vehicles on I-84

Two people were not injured Friday morning after a large tree fell on their vehicles as they traveled along westbound Interstate 84 near Bridal Veil. The westbound lanes were closed about 30 minutes until vehicles and tree debris was removed.

This morning just before 11:30 a.m. two vehicles were traveling westbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 26 when a tree estimated 3-foot in diameter and 60 feet tall fell toward the traffic lanes hitting two vehicles in the right lane. The first vehicle, a 2005 Ford Explorer SUV driven by Eric Frank, 28 from Boise, was struck in the back breaking a window.

The second vehicle following the Ford SUV, a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Garry Pipke, 67of Richmond, British Columbia, was struck on the top passenger compartment and back end causing major damage.

OSP troopers were assisted at the scene by Multnomah County Sheriff's Office. ODOT cleared the roadway to re-open it for traffic.
