Micron explosion this morning injures 4, three others being evaluted
According to the Boise Police Department, there was an explosion this morning at Micron reported at 9:59am. The explosion involved a piece of R&D equipment two floors below ground level in building 24d.
The Micron emergency response team was on scene immediately. Approximately 200 people who work in the building were evacuated.
Four workers were nearby at the time, two Micron employees and two electrical contractors. One suffered a minor cut to his arm, two are being evaluated for ringing in their ears, one inhaled dust following the explosion. At this time no one has been transported. All are being evaluated by Micron health workers and Ada County EMS on scene. Three other workers are also being evaluated after breathing dust.
Boise Fire Haz Mat team was sent to Micron. Haz Mat experts were able to confirm no hazardous chemicals were released as a result of the explosion.
At this time, Boise Fire crews are clearing the scene. Micron will continue to investigate the cause of the explosion.
